Commercial Loading Dock Products and Repair Services
Companies that ship and receive products need to have the proper loading Dock Equipment to run efficiently and safely. Whether you use a 5 ton forklift or a hand truck, you will want Berkman Industries to help you find the right solution for your Dock Equipment needs. Solutions can range from a standard edge of mount to a pit leveler that sits inside a concrete pit.
Hydraulic and Manual Dock Levelers
Hydraulic and Manual Dock Levelers are usually recessed into the dock in a concrete pit. The average platform size is 6x7 and can accommodate forklifts and cargo up to 35,000 pounds. In general, Pit Mount Dock Levelers are safer, have a higher capacity and can handle a wider range of truck platform heights.

Manual Levelers utilize a pull chain and are spring loaded. When the chain is pulled it pops-up. When the truck is in the bay, the platform is easily walked down allowing a forklift or a pallet jack to drive onto the truck.
Hydraulic Models are similar in function but are more controllable at different levels. These are operated by a push button station and generally have a higher weight capacity.
As part of our standard maintenance service on Dock Levelers, our Technicians will clean the debris from the pit to insure there are no obstructions for the leveler to operate. This insures your establishment stays clean and up to code.
Dock Seals
Dock Leveler Seals are used to create a seal when a truck is in the loading dock bay to keep out intruders, bugs, and the elements. Many Customers require this for sanitary, health code and security applications. It is also effective for overnight security if a truck has to park in the bay. The overhead door and the truck trailer door may stay open while the gap between them is sealed. Many grades and sizes are available.

If your seal becomes damaged or broken, we have cost effective solutions to help avoid costly replacement of the complete seal in some cases.
Dock Shelters and Canopies
Dock Shelters and Canopies are the solution to protecting the loading area and shipments from adverse weather conditions. Dock Shelters are retractable covers fixed to the building above the door opening and telescope, or swing to the opening of a railroad boxcar or truck.

Fixed Canopies can be made in every configuration to keep any area dry or shaded. Often these get hit or damaged by delivery trucks. Vortex can help repair dock canopies or provide replacement options.

Have Berkman Industries help with installation of dock shelters and canopies to protect your receiving area. If they are already existing, we can often repair damage to restore protection and avoid replacement costs.
Dock Boards
Loading Dock Boards are portable ramp plates made of aluminum or steel and allow forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to travel between the dock and truck. It allows drive-on loading for bays where levelers are not present. They are also economic compared to complete levelers. Proper conditions are required for use and must be manually spotted between the truck and dock.
Dock Lights
Dock Lights are a must on every dock door opening. These durable lights have arms that pivot away when not in use and are quickly deployed to light dark trucks and trailers. These low-cost lights help prevent injuries by providing a well-lit loading and receiving area.
Truck Latches
Truck Latches are used to restrain and hold a truck while a forklift drives across a dock. This prevents the truck from sliding away or being driven away inadvertently, causing serious injury to personnel.
Truck Latches consist of a hydraulic or motor-driven arm that holds the truck or trailer at the lower bumper. They typically have a signal light that tells the driver when it is safe to back up or depart. Truck Latches give you complete control, minimizing human error.
